How can we develop together and make a difference?

At Silicon Grid, we foster an environment that goes beyond traditional career experiences. Here are compelling reasons to consider a career with us:

Job Title - Power System Engineers

We are looking to recruit several new team members. These opportunities are permanent roles.

The variety of work will increase over time, depending on where the applicant's interest develops. Initially attention to detail will be needed to build, test and configure systems, to create and update power system models and demonstrate the operation to our client base. Support and on the job training will be given.

For right candidate we would support further qualifications in related topics. There is a small and friendly team, which has a flexible work location (home/Manchester city centre).

We prefer full time, or if studies are on-going we are happy to discuss and negotiate in order to accommodate part-time working for a few months. Initially, a minimum of 3 days a week in the office Monday-Friday should be expected.

Successful candidates, by the start of employment, must have permission to work in the UK and expect to have a probationary period in the Manchester office

Qualifications

Minimum Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related.

Skills

Candidates should be  comfortable around numbers and software, have an inquisitive mind, along with a desire to develop and learn.

Any of the following (or similar) is a bonus, but not essential:

  • Python

  • Power systems

  • IT development

  • User training

  • GITHUB

  • C++

Responsibilities

  • You will take ownership of network projects, working with and improving project process documentation to build and test a network from start to finish.

  • You will support and test new project tools to improve current processes. For example, a tool that automatically inputs data, so an engineer won’t have to.

  • You will empower the team with knowledge in power systems explaining behaviours with the system.

  • You will support commissioning of the networks applying your skills and learning from power systems to the projects as they go live.
